Vegetable Stamps using Lettuce

DIY Vegetable Stamps using Romaine Lettuce

I don’t know about you, be we go through lots of lettuce in our house. Normally we send the ends of our lettuce to the chickens, however I saved a few for a fun painting project. Have you tried creating art using simple vegetable stamps?

Stamping Materials:

Paper
Romaine Lettuce ends (the part you would normally compost)
Paint ~ we used bight acrylic paint
Paint Brushes
Paper towels ~ optional

Tip: Leave the cut lettuce ends out over night to dry out. This will help you get a crisper print.

Cut and save the ends of your lettuce bundles. Make as straight of a cut as possible.

Paint the cut end of your lettuce with thin layer of paint. Thick paint like tempera or acrylic work best

Press your stamp onto the paper using even pressure.

Vegetables that make great stamps:

Potatoes
Celery
Carrots
Orka
Peppers
cabbage
Onion

The sky is the limit with this DIY stamping project!

You can even add a little glitter or use 2-3 colors of paint to make one print. If you stamp them in bunches, it give it more of a bouquet feel.

This simple technique is perfect for create your own wrapping paper or special cards.

Easter Crafts for Kids

Simple Easter Chicks ~ an easy Easter craft for kids

Are you looking for some simple Easter Crafts for Kids inspiration? Then your in the right place! I love creating with my kids. Especially when the crafts are as simple as these little Easter Chicks.

Ready for a short and sweet supply list?

Easter Chick Materials:

Yellow and orange cardstock
scissors
glue
googly eyes

Fine Motor Activity ~Using scissors with Preschoolers

My kiddos are currently obsessed with using scissors. Did you see our super simple Circle Rainbows? Which lead us to creating these little Easter Chicks.

Have the kiddos trace and cut out a yellow circle. Then encourage them to make small cuts all the way around the edge of the circle, creating feathers.

Glue on a couple eyes and a beak and your little Easter chick is finished!

Tip: Some of the kids found it helpful to trace a small circle in the center of their paper. This will give them a reference on how deep to make their cuts.

They are so adorable! The best part is…they only took 5 minutes!

There are so many crafts floating around on Pinterest using clothespins as legs. However, these these little pigs are my current favorite. I totally need to go buy more clothespins. Love them!
