Simple Twig Turkey ~ Thanksgiving craft for kids
Durning our nature walk, the kids gathered a number of twigs.  With Thanksgiving right around the corner, we decided to create a simple twig turkey craft.  Plus, my kiddos love any excuse to use their glue gun.
Materials Needed:
- Twigs or small sticks
- Glue Gun ~ a low temp glue gun works best for kids
- Oil Pastels
- Paper for eyes and beak
Choose a few of the twigs to use for the feathers and legs. Â Add a little color by rubbing the twigs with oil pastels. Â We found it easiest to use the side of the oil pastel.
Using a low temp glue gun, attach the twigs together in a haphazard pattern.
My kiddos love using their glue gun.  However, like any tool, its important to talk to them about how to use one properly.
They also used the glue gun to attach the eyes and beak, but you could use white glue.
Gobble gobble!
I love how these little twiggy turkeys turned out.
I was looking for Thanksgiving projects using items from nature and came across your twig turkeys — too darn cute! We tried the glue gun last year but my daughter was a little ‘gun shy’ since she knew it was hot. Time to pull it out again – she will love these 🙂
My kiddos now love their glue gun, but it took a bit for them to be comfortable as well;) I can’t wait to see how your little turkeys turn out Jacquie.
