We received a note from Annika’s Kindergarten teacher that their class would be decorating Valentines boxes together.  Each kiddo needed to bring in a container that they could add stickers and use markers to decorate.  Annika was so excited for her special Valentines box.  Although we ran into a bit of a snag when we couldn’t find a single shoe box and the recycling had just been picked up so no cereal boxes either.  Not discouraged, I kept searching.  My persistence finally paid off when I came across the perfect container, a peanut tin from Costso.
It was so simple to transform into a Valentine holder. Â We removed the original peanut label and wrapped the tin in brown craft paper.
Using a sharp knife, I cut a mail slot in the lid. Â Annika wanted a handle so I cut a small X on each side, slipped the ribbon through and tied a knot in each end to secure it.
Annika was so happy with the results and can’t wait to decorate it with her classmates. Â I’m excited to see how it turns out.
