Preschool Transportation activity ~ License Plate Rubbings
We are doing lots of fun transportation activities this week. I can’t wait to share a creative idea my sister-in-law did with her preschool class…license plate rubbings. My kids love doing simple leaf rubbings, so I knew this idea would be a hit. Plus it is super simple and is perfect for practicing number and letter recognition.
Materials Needed:
- Old License Plates {from different states if you can find them}
- Large Sheet of Paper
- Painters Tape
- Crayons {with the papers removed}
How to make License Plate Rubbings:
- Gather a bunch of old license plates ~ I found a number in our garage.
- To keep the plates from moving around while the kids made their rubbings, use painters tape to secure them to the table.
- Then tape a piece of paper over the the plate.
- Raid your stash of broken crayons, and peel off the wrappers.
- Using a crayon on its side, have the kids gently rub the colour all over the texture of the license plate.
- Continue rubbing more colors, watching the magic happen!
- The children loved how the numbers “appeared” as they rubbed with their crayons.
Have you seen these adorable little cardboard cars? You could attach these little rubbings to boxes to make little personalized cars. Adorable right?
