Carrot Handprint Art

Carrots art for kids ~ Easter Handprint Art

Spring is almost here.  We have been busy creating adorable paper plate sheep, and simple chicks.  Since we often associate spring and the Eater Bunny, we decided to make simple knuckle print carrots.  These little fist print pumpkins inspired our handprint art.  We were originally going to create bunnies, however the kids asked to make carrots to feed the bunnies.  Love it!

If your kids love making handprint art, they will love making simple knuckle prints as well.

Materials needs to make Carrot prints:

  • White card stock
  • Orange and green paint
  • Paper Plate ~ or any flat container for paint

Simple supply list equals quick instructions.  Honestly you could probably make these with out any instructions.  They are pretty self explanatory.  My favorite kind of craft.

Start by encouraging your child to make a fist and dip it into the orange paint.  Have them press their painty knuckles onto the paper.  Thats it.  Super simple and the kids loved it!

Finger prints make the perfect little green carrot tops.

Does it get any easier than that?  Now we need to make a set of adorable bunnies to eat all the carrots;)

How cute would these simple carrot prints look on the front of your Easter Party invites?

Carrots are not only great to feed to the Easter bunny.  You could recreate them for Nutrition week,  a Letter C theme or along side talking about healthy vegetables and snacks.

The kids love using tape, and I am always looking for ways to add it to our current project.  As you can see it, we used tape squares to color the body of our little chick.  I helped the little ones by cutting squares of tape.  However, the older preschoolers used scissors to cut the tape themselves.  This is a fun way to work on those all important fine motor skills.

Next the kids glued on the eyes, beak and yellow feathers.  For a couple of the kids this was their first time gluing on feathers.  There were lots of giggles as the feathers clung to their fingers.

You can either hang your Easter Chicks on the fridge or add little clothes pin legs so they can stand on their own.

If you don’t have colored tape, you could always paint the circle yellow.  However, by using tape, there is no dry time.  Making this a quick and simple project to make.

Vegetable Stamps using Lettuce

DIY Vegetable Stamps using Romaine Lettuce

I don’t know about you, be we go through lots of lettuce in our house.  Normally we send the ends of our lettuce to the chickens, however I saved a few for a fun painting project.  Have you tried creating art using simple vegetable stamps?

Vegetable Stamps using Romaine Lettuce Stamping Materials:

  • Paper
  • Romaine Lettuce ends (the part you would normally compost)
  • Paint ~ we used bight acrylic paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • Paper towels ~ optional

Tip:  Leave the cut lettuce ends out over night to dry out.  This will help you get a crisper print.

Cut and save the ends of your lettuce bundles.  Make as straight of a cut as possible.

Paint the cut end of your lettuce with thin layer of paint.  Thick paint like tempera or acrylic work best
