Indoor Snowball Fight

Indoor Snowball Fight

My kids love snow!  For a little variety, we sometimes bring snow inside to play with.  The kids love building and painting the snow indoors.  With that in mind, we decided to create a simple no snow snowball fight.  Ever wonder what it would be like to have a snowball fight indoors?  Well now you safely can!  My kiddos loved this simple indoor game and cant wait to play it again.

Indoor Snowball Fight ~ Fun winter game for kids

Materials needed:

White tissue paper ~ you could also use news paper, or sheets of paper from your recycle bin.

Timer ~ set to beep at the designated time.  We set ours for 1 minute.

A group of people ready for a fun snowball fight.

How to set it up:

Push the furniture to the edges of the room and clear the floor of any toys.  You are going to need a large open area to play.  Its times like this that I wish we had a large playroom.

Mark an area on the floor to divide the space in half.  We used the line where the carpet and the wood floor join.  However, if you don’t have a natural dividing line, you could use painters tape to make your own.  If you have competitive kiddos a clear line is a must for this game.

Crumple up your paper into balls and divide into 2 equal piles.  Set one pile of snowballs on each side of the playing field.

Divide your group into teams.  We started out with even adults and kids on each side and ended with a few games of kids against the parents.  Which I have to say was the kids favorite!

Let the fun begin and the snowballs fly.

Indoor Snowball Fight ~ Fun winter game for kids

Snowball Fight Rules:

You are racing against the clock to clear all the snowballs off your side.  You do this by throwing the paper snowballs on your side onto your opponents side.

To make it a little trickier, you can only throw snowballs with one hand.

No pushing large piles of snowballs over the line.  All snowballs must be thrown across.

Once the timer beeps the game is over and no more throwing.

Count the number of snowballs on your side to determine the winner.

We had so much fun with our little indoor snowball fight and the kids LOVED it.  Especially when they were playing against the parents.

Family Game Night ~ Minute to Win it Games your kids will love!

We love playing Minute to Win it Games as a family and with friends.  I love that each of the games uses common items from around the house.  Easy, cheap and so much fun! Like all Minute to Win it Games you will be racing against the clock to complete the challenge.

This Blows ~ Minute to Win it Games

The Goal:

Slide 15 plastic cups off the edge of a table using the air from an inflated balloon. Continue blowing up the balloon and squeezing the air out to send the cups flying until all of the cups have fallen.

The players have to blow up 1 balloon each and use the air in the balloon to blow 15 cups off of a table. The balloon can be blown up as many times as necessary to accomplish this task. The first team to blow all 15 cups off the table, wins.

This Blows ~ Minute to Win it GamesEquipment Needed:

This game uses things you have at home already and if not they’re really easy to find (and cheap, too).

  • One balloon per player
  • 15 plastic cups per team
  • Black sharpie and orange paper ~ to create the snowman faces
  • One long table
  • A one-minute timer or stop watch

This Blows ~ Minute to Win it Games

How to Set Up the Game:

Add an adorable snowman face to each of the cups.  We used a black sharpie for the eyes and mouth and a taped a scrap of orange paper for the nose.

Line the 15 plastic cups up in a row (upside down only a few inches from the edge of the table ).  Place the balloon at the starting end, and get the timer ready to go.

This Blows ~ Minute to Win it Games

How to Play:

  • Start the one-minute timer, grab the balloon and blow it up.
  • Expel the air out of the ballon so that it blows the cups off the edge of the table.
  • Continue to blow the balloon up until all 15 plastic cups are on the floor.
  • To win, knock all cups off the table in one minute or less.

The Rules:

  • You may not touch the cups with your hands or any other part of your body at any time.
  • The cups must all be completely off the table when the time is up in order to be successful.

Simple Finger Knitting Project

Finger Knitting ~ A Simple Kids Craft for Valentines Day

Finger knitting is so easy, plus no tools needed.  All you need is your fingers and some yarn.  Making it perfect for bringing to restaurants, taking along on road trips, or perfect quiet time activity.  My kids LOVE finger knitting.

Finger Knitting Tutorial and easy Valentines Day Ideas

How to Finger Knit in a few easy steps:

{or watch the video that taught my kids, it is seriously easy to follow!}

  • To begin…hold the yarn between your thumb and index finger (in your non-dominant hand). The tail of the yarn should lay across the back of your hand, and your palm should be facing you.
  • Then simply weave the yarn back and forth through your fingers. Go behind your middle finger, in-front of your ring finger, and behind your pinky.
  • Loop around and weave your way back to your index finger.
  • Repeat above 2 steps so you have 2 loops on each finger.
  • Now your ready to start knitting.  Begin by Flipping the bottom loops over the top loops. Make sure to leave the top loop on your finger.  That bottom loop of yarn should now be on the back of your pinky.
  • Now your ready to weave the yarn around your fingers again.  When your done weaving, you should once again have two loops on each finger.
  • Flip the bottom loops up over the top loops again.
  • Continue this process until you have a long “rope”.

Finger Knitting Tutorial and easy Valentines Day Ideas

Finishing your Finger Knitting:

  • Once your rope is your desired length, stop knitting.  You should have one loop on each finger.
  • Take the loop from your pinky, and stack it on your ring finger.  Flip the bottom loop over your ring finger.
  • Next, move the loop from your ring finger to your middle finger. Again, Flip the bottom loop over your middle finger.
  • Stack the loop from your middle finger to your index finger. Pull up the bottom loop again. You now only one loop on your index finger.
  • Cut your “working” yarn a few inches away from the loop.
  • Slip the loop off your index finger and slip and pull the tail through the loop.
  • Now your ready to get creative with your knitting.

Finger Knitting Tutorial and easy Valentines Day Ideas

Materials Needed:

  • Old window or frame
  • Burlap
  • A Length of Finger Knitting
  • Hot or Cold Glue Gun
  • Tape

The kids were super excited to start their simple project.  So we simply attached the burlap to a distressed window with tape.  Maybe not the most permanent solution, but it totally worked for us.

Finger Knitting Tutorial and easy Valentines Day Ideas

My youngest girl is learning how to write in cursive.  This project was a fun challenge for her.  She wrote the words “love” in finger knitting before tacking it down with the glue gun. Easy Peasy!

Finger Knitting Tutorial and easy Valentines Day Ideas

I seriously LOVE the combination of burlap, finger knitting and a distressed window.  It turned out amazing, plus totally quick and inexpensive.  Love that!

Christmas Party Games for Kids

Snowman Fun ~ Simple Christmas Party Games for kids for all ages

You may have guessed already, but snowmen make me happy.  I love seeing adorable snowmen in front yards, snowmen crafts, snowmen activities and especially this little snowman game.  Its a simple winter game that is so much fun. Seriously, we were rolling on the floor laughing.  It’s easy to play, and perfect for a large crowd, a school classroom or a simple family night.

Christmas Party Games for Kids ~ Snowman drawing game

Materials Needed:

  • Paper Plates
  • Markers ~ pencils and pens DON’T work well for this game.

You can play this simple Snowman Game anywhere, and it always produces LOTS of giggles.  Perfect to play with all ages.  Don’t worry if you are not an artist, this game is more about listening that actual drawing skill.

Christmas Party Games for Kids ~ Snowman drawing game

How to Play:

The host tells the players to place their paper plate on their head.

Have everyone place their paper plate on their head.  Holding the plate in one hand and the marker in the other hand.  Silly I know, but this step ensures no one is peeking, and  it makes it just a little bit harder.  Plus, giggling is half the reason why your playing this game…right?

Christmas Party Games for Kids ~ Snowman drawing game

Once everyone is ready with their plates on their heads, the host will give a series of instructions:

  1. Draw a line for the ground/snow
  2. Draw a large snowball for the base of your snowman.
  3. Create a medium sized snowball on top of the first one.
  4. Cap your snowman with a small snowball for the head.
  5. Draw a carrot nose.
  6. Now add 2 eyes and a mouth with dots of coal.
  7. Draw a scarf to keep your snowman warm
  8. Add 2 stick arms
  9. and finally, finish your snowman by drawing a top hat on your snowman’s head.

Now that the drawings are complete, place all the snowmen on the table to admire.  You can totally tell that you were all attempting to draw a snowman, however they are all a little goofy looking.  We found it really hard to tell the kids snowmen from the adult drawn ones.  Love it!
