Candy Corn Cutting Activity
Does Candy corn bring you straight back to your childhood?  It does for me.  With Halloween right around the corner, I couldn’t resist creating a simple Candy Corn cutting activity.  Scissors are an important skill for preschoolers to master which takes lots of patience and practice.  So why not make practicing these all important skills fun?!  These little Candy Corns just make me smile.  A perfect addition to your Halloween party.
Materials needed:
- Yellow, Orange and White Construction Paper
- Glue
- Scissors
- Compass ~ or something that you can trace to create graduating circles like bowls or plates.
- Ruler
- Optional: a hole punch and twine
Start by having the kids trace graduating circles onto the construction paper. Â We used a compass, but you could also trace bowls, plates etc. Â Anything that will give you 3 graduating sizes of circles. Â Your largest circle should be yellow, then orange and finally white.
Cut out the circles and glue them together.
Once everything is dry, help the kids cut the glued circles into eighths. Â You may want to use a ruler to dry lines for the kids to follow.
Your circles should now resemble Candy Corns. Â Easy Peasy!
We used a similar concept to create our circle rainbows. Â However, this time the kids only needed to cut 3 circles instead of a whole rainbow.
To turn your little candy corns into a inexpensive Halloween decorations, simple punch holes in the top of each candy corn and string with twine.  Hang and enjoy!  It looks so cute when I added our simple Circle Garland Tutorial along side it!
