My kiddos love smoothies and they are the perfect summer treat. Â We use plain yogurt, low fat milk, and throw in lots of fruit. Â Each time I blend up a batch, they taste slightly different depending on what fruit I have on had. Â My kids love them because they taste great and I love them because the kids are slurping up a healthy treat!
This is the basic recipe that I use, although I don’t measure the ingredients:)
1 cup plain yogurt
3/4 cup low fat milk
1 teaspoon on agave nectar or honey. Â You can also use a bit of sugar.
Frozen strawberries, bananas, blueberries, mangos, and any other fruit that is in my freezer.
Blend all ingredients together and serve.
I would love to hear your smoothie recipe.

For 4 servings: 1 cup plain yogurt, 2 cups milk, 2 tbsp frozen orange juice concentrate, 1 banana, and 1 cup frozen fruit. My favorite combo is using frozen whole cranberries and blueberries. Sometimes I buy individual yogurt cups when they are on sale if they are close to their best before date and pop them in the freezer to add to smoothies, or stick a baby spoon through the lid to make a frozen yogurt popsicle, although they freeze to a nice, softer consistency if you put the yogurt in the ice cream maker first 🙂 Pureed stewed rhubarb and strawberry yogurt makes a delicious tart popsicle! And rhubarb is about the only thing ready to eat out of the garden… and some onions and spinach, which I don’t recommend for popsicles 🙂
Love it! We will have to try some soon. Thanks
I discovered your blog through Pintrest and have had a BLAST reading through everything this morning. I love smoothies too and just had to post about it! here is my favorite blend…
Equal parts frozen friut by color. On part blue, one part red, one part yellow, one part banana (okay, banana isn’t a color, but you get the point!)
Blue ideas – blueberries, blackberries, grapes
Red ideas – strawberries, raspberries, cherries
Yellow ideas – peaches, mangoes, pineapple
Bananas make everything creamy… since I don’t use yogurt. Instead, add soy milk and fruit juice to blend. Some juice suggestions are acai, pomagranate, and orange.
Blend and enjoy!!!
