My kids love to stamp anything and everything. Â Today they decided a simple Stamping Dice Activity, which became a great lesson in early math.
We make our own stamp pads, which is really simple. Â All you need is felt, a plastic plate or lid, acrylic paint and salt. Â Cut the felt into a circle to fit the bottom of your plate. Squeeze a small amount of acrylic paint onto the plate, sprinkle with a bit of salt and stir. Â The salt will make the acrylic more fluid and easier to stamp with. Â Don’t use to much salt or it will become too runny. Â Lay the felt over the paint and let it absorb into the felt.
Quick, easy prep and your stamp pad is ready to go.  It is also reusable, which I love.  Just simply rinse the felt out lay flat to dry.  You can use tempera paint as well, I just like acrylics.
We made the plus, minus and equals signs by cutting up foam stickers to the right shape. Â Foam stickers work great because they have depth and are already sticky. Â We stuck the foam math signs onto dice and started stamping.
We also worked with the little ones on number sequencing. Â I love when the kids can learn while playing.

We thought this was such a fun way for children to practice addition, so we shared it on our site!
all the best,

Thanks for the feature!
Take a look at that red number five die in the IMGP0794 and what do you see besides the obvious? It’s possible to use this to make a “garden of mysical amanita muscaria mushrooms” just from this simple stamp. My son is having a go at this craft idea. He decided to also paint some of our rocks too. 🙂 Rubbing it in his tiny hands he says, “Mommy rock soap!”
Wow…I love this idea. Thanks so much for sharing. I am definitely doing this with my first graders!

We tried this activity and did not have quite as much luck with it as you did. lol. I was wondering if I could use your IMGP0809.jpg (of the rows of stamped dice addition) in my blog post about the activity? I will give you credit for the photo and link back to you in my post.
Thanks,
Shannon

Such a brilliant way to make stamp pads! My daughter always gets frustrated when our pads run out of ink.
