So I went a bit crazy on the Target 90% off Christmas clearance.  These cute little felt hearts I’m sure were intended to be ornaments, but I immediately thought Valentines.
I am so thankful for my sweet sister-in-law.  She often gets enlisted to help in my crazy plans.  This time I asked her if she could picked up 40 packages of these little hearts for me (each package contains 3 hearts).  At the checkout counter the lady had to ring each one up separately.  As the lady was scanning them she asked Laurie if she has seen the show Hoarders!  Ha! I laughed so hard.  I’m thankful that my sister-in-law has a good sense of humor. The lady obviously did not see my vision of cheap Valentines for the kids classmates:)  Actually my husband thought I had lost it as well, but did not tell me that until later.
The kids school encourages them to make homemade Valentines for the kids in their class.  Since that means between my kiddos they need to make over 70 handmade Valentine’s (when you add in all the teachers) I needed something that was not going to take that much time or effort but still looked adorable.
We cut out red hearts that were the same size as the felt ones, punched a hole and strung them on the original string.  All that was left was to address them all.  So simple and cheap!  Happy Valentines Day!
Those turned out super duper cute! Also I love that the cashier mentioned Hoarders, too funny.
how cute and such a simple and effective idea. good frugal thinking you!
Would also make a lovely garland too!
I just stumbled across your Blog because of Pinterest! I LOVE LOVE LOVE your blog! I’ve repined more than a dozen things from it and will be sharing your GENIUS ideas with all my friends. Thank you so much for documenting and sharing all the wonderful things you do with your family!
Did not buy as many, just enough to hang on our classroom tree ( branch from our preschool in the public park ) to decorate for February ! Used them also for patterning activities.
Yes, that was a wonderful, memorable moment in life when the Lady thought I was a hoarder. I was proud to be your sister-in-law 🙂 I love how they turned out though! So worth it…..and the $4 price tag was impossible to beat!
Love your blog and this idea 🙂 Where did you get the ornaments at?
