Charlie Brown Christmas Tree Ornament

Charlie Brown Christmas Tree ~ DIY Kids Ornament

Hands down, our favorite Christmas book is A Charlie Brown Christmas.  I grew up reading peanuts comic books and couldn’t wait to introduce them to my kids.  As a result, the kids has a blast making these simple Charlie Brown Christmas tree ornaments.

For our house, it’s not Christmas with out reading a few classics books.  How The Grinch Stole Christmas.  The Night Before Christmas.  Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer.  And of course A Charlie Brown Christmas.  Don’t you just love that little iconic Charlie Brown tree.  Sparse, spindly and wrapped in Linus’s blanket.  Love it!

It only seemed fitting that we listened to the Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack while we created our little ornaments.

Materials to Make Your Own Charlie Brown Christmas Tree Ornament:

  • Branch from a garland. We used a fake long needled pine branch to get that sparse “Charlie Brown” look.
  • Wooden bead
  • Red paint
  • Thin wire
  • Blue ribbon
  • Hot glue
  • 2 Popsicle Sticks

First, we assembled the base of the tree.  Make an “X” with the Popsicle sticks and secure with hot glue.  White glue would work great too, although we are a hot glue house.  Instant gratification, plus the kids love  any excuse to use it.

Next, twist the tail of the fake tree branch around the center of the popsicle sticks.  This step can be a little tricky for little fingers, but a little dab of hot glue will help secure everything.

Next, we painted the wooden bead red.  We found that a pencil fit perfectly into the hole of the bead to keep it from rolling all over the table.

Once it’s dry, hang the red ornament on the tip of your Charlie Brown tree.  Bend your tree branch just a little. Instant transformation from sparse tree…to Charlie Brown tree.

Next, we painted the wooden bead red. We found that a pencil fit perfectly into the hole of the bead to keep it from rolling all over the table.

Finally, wrap a strip of blue ribbon around the tree base.  Use a small dab of hot glue to secure it.

I’m sure Charlie Brown would have loved making one as much as we did!
